Power-up in the pool with Jolanta!

Aqua Aerobics was the first class that we started and the start of our great relationship with Charing Cross Sports Club. Jolanta will lead you through various exercises in the pool, which includes resistance work with foam weights and music to motivate you. The water is heated and comes to roughly chest height. Given that the water reduces weight loading on your joints, this is particularly good for anyone with joint issues. It can also be good for people with balance issues, as the risk of falling whilst exercising is eliminated.

In a Cochrane review, one of the highest forms of medical evidence, water-based exercise was found to have the biggest impact on quality of life in people with Parkinson's and that certainly fits with our experience. If you would like to read the Cochrane review, please follow this link:

Nonna says:

"I joined an 'Aqua' class about a year ago to try a new exercise. I like the class as it has a welcoming, social vibe. Our teacher, Jolanta, is very friendly and brings lots of energy to every class, so every session is enjoyable.

I also have other conditions, as well as PD, and find 'Aqua' classes helpful for the joints, as moving in water doesn't aggravate the pain. It is a great exercise overall and a fun one."
